Every time India faces the trespassing and violation of ceasefire near Pakistan and China Borders; although every time they lose. The importance of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh region can be imagined by this sentence quoted by Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi : जम्मू एवं कश्मीर और लद्दाख हिन्दुस्तान के सिर का ताज़ है!

In 1940s and 50s, China occupied the Tibet and established their rights, at that time Ladakh came forward to merge with India. Till 1834 Ladakh was independent territory, just like the Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal. In 1834, The king of J&K suddenly invaded the state of Ladakh. The truculence was very violent and cruel. Later on the king of J&K decided to merge the state of Ladakh region with J&K; and till 1947 J&K and Ladakh were assumed same territory; but its importance was never been decreased. In 1947 people of Ladakh were demanding the independent territory of Ladakh; which should be administered by the Central Government of India. But the government of that time (1947) wasn't assuring this demand.

In the war of 1948 (Indo-Pak), Ladakh people were giving contribution to the nation although after merging with J&K. People were volunteering at that time.

So, the phase between 1947 to 2019 was very crucial for Ladakh people. In this phase the deamnd of making Ladakh a UT was in frame, as people up voted it.

On 5th of August, the Government of India declared Ladakh a Union Territory.
