CYBER THREAT | INCLUDES RANSOMWARE, DRIVE-BY DOWNLOAD AND MALWARE | WARNS MICROSOFT | INDIAN IT INDUSTRIES ARE ON ALERT

In 2020, Across the globe the most vulnerable threat is Cyber Attack. Different types of threats including Ransom ware, Malware and Drive-by Downloads are most common. We know that in the computer security a Threat is the most Negative action/event.

India is facing a lot of amount of Ransom ware threats in every part of the nation. But nowadays; after Digitalization, Malware attacks and Drive-by Downloads are on surge. Before we get into, we should have a clarity about what the RANSOMWARE, DRIVE-BY DOWNLOAD, and MALWARE are !

These threats are the biggest threats in terms of the Cyber Security. 

 

RANSOMWARE

Ransomware is a type of Malware only. But it is a Malware from Crypto virology. that threatens to publish the victim's data or perpetually block access to it unless a ransom is paid. The most common data of victim is their Bank Information.

Malware 

Interestingly, Malware is one kind of Software which is specifically designed to cause Damage to the Computer, Smart Devices, Servers or any Computer Networks.  The most common and existing Malware types are given Below:

1) Viruses 

2) Adware 

3) Shareware

4) Trojen Horses 

5) Rogue Software

Drive-by Downloads

While surfing on the Internet, it is the most common threat. Drive-by Downloads Attack means it is the download preference which happens unintentionally, of Malicious Code to our Computer and Smart Devices which will carry you to the Cyber Attack/Threat. 

CURRENT SITUATION

Today, Globally India is on 2nd position to hit by Drive-by Downloads. Third party applications, illigal cookies sharing and low security for Internet surfing is leading India towards the major Cyber Attacks. 

According to Microsoft Security Endpoint Threat Report 2019, from a list of 15 countries in Asia Pacific Region assessed by the technology company, India has the highest number of Cyber Attacks. 

In terms of Drive-by Downloads, india reached at 2nd Spot from 9th in 2019. Singapore is the most assessed country by Cyber Attacks. 

According to Keshav Dhakad (Group Head, External & Legal Affairs, Microsoft India), “Typically, high malware encounters are a result of excessive and careless usage of unlicensed or pirated software, and proliferation of sites that illegally offer free software or content, such as video streaming, Video Sharing, etc." 

Cybercriminals are accessing and stealing Data of Computer Networks of MNC Companies, Industries and local users. Also, our personal Information, Bank Details etc. by these type of Malwares; Says Mr. Dhakad.

What We Have To Do With It ?

Cyber Attacks are usual nowadays, but it doesn't mean that you can't save your details securely. While surfing on the Internet or any Computer Networks, your awareness is the Key, which will save you from these Attacks. Keep in mind that whenever you search something on the Internet, your details should not be saved on other's devices. Do not share your personal details with anyone, either you trust them or not. Always do Net Banking with your own Mobile phones and Computers. Never share your PIN and Bank Codes to anyone through Third Party Messaging Applications.
